Information
Last year, through the publication of the new EACTS / STS guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic pathology of the Aorta, understood as an organ of the human body; A new and updated therapeutic path has been identified, suitable for the treatment of complex chronic pathology of the aortic arch (Aortic Arch Repair).
The new minimally invasive technologies (EAAR), which have appeared on the market in recent years, are proposed as an alternative to the more consolidated traditional surgical approach and through the Frozen Elephant Trunk technique, as the procedure of choice for this type of pathology.
It is therefore necessary to make a comparison between the different therapeutic solutions, in terms of outcomes such as Mortality, adverse events, and Stroke, which still remains the real Achilles’ heel of this surgery.
The iEAAR Academy wishes to draw attention to these issues, offering a plural point of view on the different surgical and endovascular strategies, stimulating the comparison between different experiences and professionalisms (Endovascular Surgeon and Cardiac Surgeon) with the aim of reaching a consensus, in regarding the technical and procedural elements that can help minimize the risks of this surgery.
At the same time, we do not want to neglect a necessary “hands-on” approach to innovative materials, to the planning of the intervention, and to the “tips and tricks” shared by experts in the sector, who have gained significant experience with the most used devices.
At the end of this Academy, participants will have acquired the necessary skills to be able to treat patients suffering from complex pathologies of the aortic arch with greater safety, using Branched Custom Made endoprostheses.
