The aim of this multi-module pediatric simulation curriculum is to provide residents with an opportunity to gain experience and practice the assessment and management of pediatric emergencies in a realistic and safe environment. The curriculum is designed to enhance the knowledge, skills, and confidence of residents in the evaluation and management of common pediatric emergencies.
The program will also integrate relevant evidence-based guidelines and protocols, including pediatric-specific resuscitation algorithms and protocols. The curriculum will emphasize teamwork and interprofessional collaboration, with an emphasis on clear communication and role definition during emergencies.
Module 1: ONLINE Introduction to Pediatric Emergencies (May 22nd-31st, 2023)
- Introduction to pediatric emergency care, including the principles of assessment and evaluation of critically ill children.
- Common pediatric emergencies. Examples include respiratory distress, seizures, and anaphylaxis. The session will also cover the principles of critical care, including escalation policies, teamwork, communication
